Can someone tell me when BMW started building 3 series in America? (Kentucky??)
Having a problem finding same, and not finding answers, so I guess I'm cheating by asking here.
Thanks.

Actually, that's not quite right. The X3 is not being built in Spartanburg. I think they built a few of them there, but not production models to be sold. Also, they built 318i's at the Spartanburg plant before starting production of the Z3. I think they built 318i's for about two years before the Z3 went into production. The plant was intended to build American market 3 series cars and later the Z3s. When demand for the Z3 skyrocketed, they dropped production of the 318i's to devote the plant's entire resources to building Z3s. So, there are American built E36 318i's around.

Where'd you get your info?? [;)]
