E36 M3 Luxury & E36 M3 Sport: Performance difference?

Just wondering, is there a big performance difference between the two of these cars? Let's say both were 5-speed manual, both the same year and engine size. I've been hearing that the luxury is slower than the sport. Is this true?

Well the luxury package comes with power adjustable seats, wood triming, and a few other changes.

Perhaps the weight from the seats might make it a little slower.

All other things being equal, the luxury would be marginally slower owing to the extra weight. However, there is variation between 'identical' cars such that a luxury may well be faster in any specific head-to-head comparison. You put two stock E36 M3s on a dyno and you will get different #s.

and the extra weight will mean nothing because if the driver of either car misses a gear of is slightly too aggressive on the start the advantage is lost. get luxury and keep your ass happy!!!!
