Just bought a 328iS Coupe, problem i'm havin is the one touch window close is misbehaving. When i try close the windows they get half way up then come back down. Someone suggested this might just be the rubbers gripping them and they need to be lubed. Does anyone know if this is the case and what would be a good lube(i.e. nothin greasy cos will be in contact with the glass). Thanks

Don't thing grease will help you out. My 97 328IC has the same problem. It does not happen every time and only with the drivers side. A few other people have the same common problem. I think we all just learned to deal with it. Last I remember, seemed like narrowing the problem down was electrical. Been a while. the process outlined in the link skillie provided is outlined in the Bently E36 manual. I have used the down/up/hold for 5 seconds window drill, and it fixed the passenger side, but the drivers side still has occasional problems. I have side air bags in the doors of my car, and to take the panels off to lube/clean the runners is probably not in my (or the car's) best interest, considering my lack of mechanical skills. Like Carcus, I have learned to just deal with it.
Skillie and all u guys out there. It's got nothin 2 do with lube etc. The one touch window system just wears out over time in the earlier e36 models. Just go 2 your local breaker, like I did and get a used window mechanisim, not the switch, which NEVER wears out. It will take about 1/2 hour to replace, and cures the problem, so u don't just have to live with it at all!!!!!
