help big daddy!

Oh Big D, if only I could be assured that my potential problems would only cost that much.

The prob is that I'm a virgin BMW owner w/ no experience BMWs. Mine is a 2001 Black Z3 but not quite as robust as yours.

Anyway, please keep me posted on any other options you may come across.

Thanks much!

also have a 2001 Z3 and my original bumper to bumper lasts until August 2005. However, the free maintenance warranty lasts only until August this year, or 36000 miles. I am fairly close to the milage so I recently purchased an extended 1 year free maintenance warranty that extends the miles to 50000 or August 2005 whichever comes first...free warranty is an oxymoron really because it didn't come free...
As said earlier in this thread, it is insurance...but to keep my car under warranty I have to undergo a BMW inspection # 2 ($400), oil change ($120), brake job (my brake pads are more than halfway worn and cost upward of 250 to fix on the front end only...$400 on the rear).
Beside this, the warranty covers minor stuff like windshield wiper blades ($12), hoses, belts etc. I paid $550 for the warranty...or insurance for my peace of mind...well worth it because I will get at least two oil changes for this money, plus at least one brake job if not two and most certainly one required maintenance. Look at your circumstances and then make the decision. Hope this helps. (oh, and I got mine from the BMW stealership)
