gas gauge

the gas gauge on my 92 318i will only go up to the half mark when I fill it. This is the first time it has done it.
Just checking to see if any one has had this problem?
I have only put about 85 miles on this tank so I did know if it will work under half.
The gauge still moves when I turn the car on/off.

I have heard of that happening, and what happend in their case was, after a few fills it started going to Full again.

Not sure on the BMW, but might be a bad sender unit on the gas tank. My experience is with older cars that had floats and registered the fuel level. Check the sender unit. Just my 2 cents. Gauge could be going bad as well. Car electrical shop should be able to tell for sure. They are not cheap though.
