Good brake pads but noisy brakes!?

My brakes sound like crap. I'm taking it back to the garage again, but I was wondering if anyone knew what the deal was. I had the brake pads replaced for routine brake maintenance and they are making noise as if they are already worn out! Sometimes they make no noise but sometimes they are loud. Especially after it rains my M sounds like a friggin metro bus. It brought it back a few times and they keep recoating the rotors, which helps, but that is a pain and an M should not be making any noise. It seems like there is a problem with the installation or something and they don't want to have to redo it.

WTF? I will get it sorted out one way or another but this is BS.

Any ideas?

what type of brake pads are they? if they aren't from bmw they probably have more metallic content. bmw factory brakes are pretty soft and don't have metals in the pad. metals in the brake pad causes the squeaking noise. just make sure the brakes are compatible with your rotors. the rotor may warp prematurely if the metallic content is too high in the pads. otherwise its just an annoying noise that you have to deal with. i had the same problem on my old 325i. hope this helps.

sometimes when your pads glaze they can get a little loud, try getting on them real good. probably won't work, but worth a shot, and its free.

Believe it or not that does help, but I have to apply the brakes really hard one time almost everytime I get in the car. But this isn't full proof. I still get sqweaks when slowing down at certain speeds.

Thanks for the idea thoguh

here's a thought, and this happened to me, i can't believe i didn't mention it. New pads on old rotors = sqweak. I had my pads replaced, and they still sqweaked and i took them in and had the head mechanic drive my car, he said new pads on old rotors is my problem, and not to worry about it. needless to say i will hae cross drilled rotors a week from today.
