HELP! Getting Window Back on Track

Lately I've been having issues with my driver's side window (I drive a '93 325i). For some reason, it keeps coming off the track and falling into the door. I have ripped off the door panel several times to inspect the window regulator, and have replaced the sliding plastic window clips. However, it continues to fall off the track (usually the front track)! After this happens, if I try putting the window up, it'll get 3/4 of the way up and then will POP loudly (the sound of the front and/or back window regulator ball attachments popping out of the plastic sliding tracks. Then when I put the window back down, the front regulator arm is literally BENT forward (towards the outside of the door) about 20 to 30 degrees (and the window is completely off the front track).

There is a rubber strip, approx. 16" long, that I found at the bottom of the door cavity when I first took the door panel off to fix the window. I am assuming that this piece of rubber somehow connects to the metal rod that is right next to the front window track. Does anyone know what exactly this rubber strip does, and how it attaches to the rod (and if that is where it is supposed to go)? Could this strip (being unattached) be causing my problem?

Has anyone had a similar problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated...I need to get this fixed today because I have a 3-hour drive to work later tonight!

Thanks in advance!

-Mike

I have had that problem with my 95' 318i before. I see you changed the 2 little white plastic clips on the track, did you put the cotter pins back in? they hold the sliders to the ball joint. the other problem I had was the track toward the back (the part of the door that swings out), actually came unattached (the part inside the actual door) and I had to re-rivet it back together, just make sure your window track in secure. Also make sure you put a good amount of grease on the track and the other moving parts.

hi mate i had exactly the same problem word for word, i replaced the white runners (make sure the metal clips are pushed in all the way they are quite hard to do) and i also tweaked the arms with the ball joints abit and replaced the window rubber which helped the window run better this cured the problem if u do change the window rubber take time to make sure the window sits in the seal properly or it will crease it mainly in the top left corner good luck hope this helps
