Hi guys. As previously mentioned I'm new to this forum, but judging from responses I know I'm at the right place.
Well, here's my problem: I have a 320i E36....Upon start-up the rev's climbs to about 2000 rpm, when left to idle for +/-2min. it drops to normal rpm (which in my case is about 800rpm). Whem driving comenses it has the tendency to stall/act as if its deprived of fuel especially when driving at low revs.

Please guys, I'm desperate for some help or advice relating to this issue..

Yours in need
Gerald

No, even if the engin is hot, with every start-up it does the same..How do you explain the fact that it acts as if it does not get any fuel while driving at low revs-as if there is a fuel blockage of some kind.

You mention fuel blockage, have you replaced your fuel filter? If you are assuming the fuel is blocked you would than also assume you would change the filter. Try that and let us know what you find.

If the airflow meter fails, the car will run poorly under 2000 RPM, and will struggle or stall completely above 2000 RPM. It may be the air flow meter. Check it.

Had similar problems a while back. It was the air flow mass meter boot; vacuum leak. Do you get a CEL (Check engine light)? Mine would act raunchy and unkept greater than 2,000 rpms, and when ever I would put it into neutral it would pretty much act like it was stalling. I also felt a loss of power under 2k rpms.

I'd check the boot for tears first. It's also cheaper to replace that than the meter.

Good luck.

It might be your fuel pump. I had an 85' buick skyhawk that at every red light I would have to put the car in neutral and rev it or it would stall.

Hi all,

I have a similar problem (not as extreme) to the one Gerald had in Sept last year. Occasionally I cant get any revs, it feels as through the engine is starved of fuel. Usually once the car gets warmed up its fine however the same sensation can be experienced when doing up to 80 mph. Any ideas?? Anything to do with spark plugs needing cleaned?

Thanks,

D-man.
