HK sounds system vs. aftermarket infinity speakers

Does anyone know which would end up sounding better... a stock radio with upgraded HK speakers, or a stock radio with Infinity Kappa 52.5i's? I know most of it will sound like sh*t if i don't upgrade the head unit, but its a step by step process my friend. Thanks for your input

I have 91 318is that has been upgraded with JBL's and they sound fantastic. Of course I also have a Alpine CD player, JL Audio twin 8 inch subwoofers and a 300 watt MTX 801D amp.

For most listeners the HK system suits them fine, but if you are a true sound enthusiast, you will find the system disappointing. You are better off with an aftermarket system and configuring it to your liking.

I agree with Tom. One of my friends from high school's dad works at the BMW plant in SC, and my friend always got to drive new 3 series cars. I was never impressed with the HK system. It doesn't produce enough bass (and I'm not used to subwoofers - I've never had them in my cars) and distorts at higher volumes. I think you'd be much better off upgrading the stock speakers with the Infinity kappas, especially if you are a true sound enthusiast like Tom suggested.

I have the Infinity Perfect componet system in mine, it sounds awesome...find out what you want and then go on ebay and buy it, just make sure its new and from a company selling it, it will be atleast 50 to 100 dollars cheaper than if you went to a store

here's what i have

infinity kappa 5.25in. coaxials
infinity kappa 3in. mid tweeter
infinity kappa 10.5t super tweeter
infinity kappa 6x9 in. coaxials

i also have a sony mp70 head unit that puts out 23 watts rms.
hands down the infinity kappa series are the best i have ever heard and i had a roomate that worked at sound advice that said he would gut his aftermarket system (all mb quartzs) and buy kappas if he had the money!!!! i had to modify like hell, but i'd love to enter a sound clarity contest if there was one held around here!

Infinity! Have their speakers in home theater and the range is fantastic!!
Have you heard the speakers available for cars? Good established name,I can only vouch for home, but if auto is half as good you'll be very happy.
