how about the 318i?

I am looking for a good car for my wife and I came across the BMW 318i. What does everyone have to say about this car? Pros? Cons? I am looking for something that has the roominess of a 4 door sedan and something that she (me too) can have fun driving. I know the 318 is only a 4cyl but does it have any get up and go? It seems (for the $$) this modle is going to be the best choice for us. Any info would be very helpful, I dont want to get anything we will regret. Also if anyone has or knows anyone that has a 94-97 318i (4 door, 5sp) for sale, let me know!

I wouldn't buy a 318i...... The engine is too small for that heavy a car, and it doesn't reflect much on fuel economy either. I would for a 325i if anything. How much are you looking to spend? and How much is this 318i?

i havent found a 318 yet, just looking. I am looking to spend about $6k - $6.5K, just figured that I could get a nice 318. Im not to worried about speed but I do want something fun.

318's are great cars. The engines are, as typical with most BMW's, bulletproof. The 318i has somewhere around 140 hp which is fairly low for a 4-door, but if you buy a "318is" instead of a normal "318i", it'll be fun to drive if you're by yourself. You should look for a 325i/325is because you'll get 189 hp which is definitely worth it.

If she plans on hauling more than her and one passenger, DEFINITELY do not get a 318i...she could get herself into trouble if she had to pull out fast or something. (lack of torque).
