How much did you pay for yours?

Okay, it's finally happening. I can now afford an M3!!!
I haven't talked with any of the dealers yet, but I'm thinking if I waited 9 years (Time since I started driving.), I can wait the extra 4 to 6 months.

I have configured my M3 at the www.bmwusa.com and it turned out just slightly over 59K.
If I order a 2003 model, is there any chance in hell, I might get some dealer to give me discounts?
I've talked with an Audi dealer about their new S4 and they were willing to give me 3K off the MSRP, I was wondering if this can be done with the M3... Crossing fingers...

Most importantly, what was your M3's MSRP and how much did you end up paying?

Anybody do better than MSRP at all?
I know, the demand for M3 is much higher than the supply.
Which brings me to another question, how long do I have to wait from the date I place my order?

Thanks guys, I'm hoping to get a lot more help from you guys after I purchase my M3 as well.

I paid full sticker in June for a M3 Convertible in June, I looked everywhere no discounts to be had but that said it has been worth the $ all 63,000 of them.

where do u live? if u dont live in california or new york you can probably get some kinda discount if you call dealerships all around your state

I don't live in either of those states, although I used to live in Southern California.
I live in Atlanta, the dealer had like 6 M3 slots which will go in production early October. Plus, two convertible 2003 models in the showroom.
Don't you think I can get a better deal?

I don't know about most, but if I'm buying a $60,000 to $70,000 machinery, I want it exactly the way I want it.
Once those cars go in production, they can no longer configure them.
Now, I'm pretty sure the people at the dealer aren't complete morons and the dealer will configure them to fit the most demending configurations, but still... You know?

I asked at the dealership here in Pleasanton, CA they told me 18 months on back order! I went and priced the m3 I wanted in Sacramento and it was $76K, but it had everything and then some. The dealership in Sacramento offered no discounts and I considered myself lucky (if I had done it) I would have had it in 6 weeks. But it was way over my budget so I bought used and got a good deal. Mine was 1 year old, right at 10K miles with the sports package and very clean.

I had to work to get mmine at MSRP. The Arizona dealerships know that they can get almost anything they want for an M.

Come to Australia and buy one! You won't get much change from $170,000. Can you say "ripped off"? I've also noticed that a lot of new BMW buyers in the States opt for the 330Ci. Well, over here it is $120,000. We have a 318i "executive" (4 cylinder-2.0 litre, leather and wood trim) that retails for $65,000 on the road. Hope to be looking at a Phoenix Yellow '97 M3 with 40,000klm(24k miles) for "late $50k" when the dealer gets it(trade in).

Damn... that really sucks... unless your currency exchange rate is in play or you salaries are 3x higher.

Can't you just go to the U.S. and buy it there? Shipping charges will save you $$$ on the difference. But I am not too sure if that is legal though. I know I wouldn't want to buy a car that I know another guy in another country buys for 1/3 of the price

PuShAkOv: The main culprit here is import duties(15% on cars). The government figures if you want a foreign car you will pay top dollar for it to protect our local made cars. So for the 2004 M3 there is $25,500 in import duties added to the price not to mention "luxury car tax" paid on vehicles over $57,009.00 currently this is roughly(won't bore you with details) %25. So, again on "our" M3 that equates to around a further $28,000. Not sure what oher taxes apply but I'll bet more do. But I think $53,500(min) in taxes is plenty. So you can see only the quite wealthy can afford a new M3 in Australia.

And our salaries are less than yours for comparable work!

I got mine in MA (2003 E46 M3) for 1500 below MSRP. It was on the lot, but had everything I wanted. So I took the deal..

Every dealership I called around MA said they would give a 1k discount on a lot and or ordered car.

mikev: A 2002 viper gts(I think Chrysler have stopped importing them due to low sales) would have cost you $267,580 Aus or $187,250 US. Not enough sales at that price!!
A big chunk of change would be needed for the right hand drive conversion.

Chrysler Jeep was bitten when it imported 25 of the previous Viper model and could only sell eight at the sky-high price of $250,000.

Jenkins says that this time around, if the plan is approved, the new Viper will be offered for under $200,000.

My BMW dealor is giving me $1,000 off msrp and throwing in the tefon front and rear protection guard, which is $700 to put on. He told me that since I bought a car from him (2004 330XI) a month before, that he will give me this deal. Otherwise he said he could only do msrp.

There is one on the lot for $130K, manual, with cloth trim! The cloth trim does look cheap in my opinion. I don't know why anyone would pay such a high price and not pay the extra money for leather!
