Hello everyone. I have a 93' 325i that has started to leak coolant. I beleive it is coming from the coolant/water pump. It only leaks a small amount when it is running and then when I shut it down the computer reads 'check coolant level' , even if it is still almost full. When the car is completely cool and I remove the pressure cap, a steady leak starts and it is hard to tell but it looks like it is coming from the coolant/water pump. Does this make sense to anyone and if so, does the entire pump need to be replaced or just the impeller?? Or, am I way off the mark? Any suggestions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Check your radiator neck(where the hose comes out on the drivers side IT BRAKES CLEAN OFF SOMETIMES, so at least check for cracks or signs of breakage), they usually start breaking around hundred thousand. Along with the water pump, thermostat. My radiator neck broke off on my 95' 325I,(98,000 miles) that i bought 3 weeks ago. Im gonna order all those parts and have a mechanic do it all at once because you have to take the whole front end off so its best to get it done at once. Right now my radiator neck is being held with plastic welder crap i bought but its starting to leak again a little, and everywhere i drive im worried about frying my engine, so im buying all new stuff. good luck.
Had the same trouble with the girlfriends 95 325i. There's no way around it, just get a whole new cooling system. I mean everything. I repaired each and every item that went bad, over a four month period I replace all of the cooling system. Radiator, broken inlet neck, Water pump and housing, (plastic junk), Temp control valve. Temp control switch for the fan and all hoses. With those miles it's gonna happen. Just save yourself a lot of time under the hood and replace it all at once. Oh yeah, buy a Bentleys manual.........None better. I get my parts at Autohausaz.com, free shipping over $50.
