i need a cat. converter

ok i just failed the smog check for this year, and its the cat. i wasnt going to spend $$ in the car but its illeagal to sel it w/o passin smog. so either way i have to pay, so might as wel keep it. so any1 got an idea on ow much? the check/repair center i went to couldnt tell me a quote on parts, but on instal he said like 150. how much is this gonna cost me. i feel so bad spending money on a car i cant afford to fix up 100% and therefore keep.

Hey, if you can buy this for the price and you pass the inspection....guess it is a SWEET deal as cats can be expensive.

I would NOT put those on my car, and I also wouldn't buy a car off someone with those installed. You can search around for used parts and try and get a good deal, but don't be stupid about it. My cat also went bad and I found a nice one on eBay for $180 off a 97 328i. The holes for the O2 sensor are in different places, so the muffler shop will have to take care of that, but other than that it shouldn't be too expensive because I plan to install it myself.
