im not sure it might be a chain i dont know much about bmws im a gm guy myself with a 2002 ws6 trans am

i just know the timing is off and its back fireing and that made the most sence i could be wrong

i know the maf is bad though it looks just like the one on my 89 trans am

i tried autozone but they dont stock it online or store

yea autozone is usually shitty for anything but belts and hoses for bmw's. ebay is your best bet, www.autohausaz.com is the 2nd.

well i think we are going to put the maf on and see how it runs

its running now with the busted maf but in "limp-home" mode and seems to be running much better so maybe the maf was bad and causing other problem so we will see but 300 bucks for a maf is insane

the maf for my 89 is the same unit praticaly and for a new wells unit its 160

he is planing on selling the car so if this fixes his problems then he can sell it

I know it can happen, but I've never heard on any forum of an M50 having timing that just randomly went off (either broken chain or whatever). $300 isn't insane, it's just bmw (or if you're crazy enough to buy parts at a dealer...)
