Yesterday I drove my bimmer with no prob. This morning it won't start at all!! Alternator working and battery is good. Used my Peake reset tool and fault code shows 1A, check the fault code chart and it shows Control unit supply. I called the bmw parts and services department and quoted me $1300 just for the part. I decided to check the web the whole to find better deal. Night time comes, tried start engine and it worked, turned it off and turned it back on it's good. However, the Check light engine stays on. Checked it again with the fault code reader and it shows a different fault code 1st is 29 for "Air mass sensor" and fault code 65 " not listed what it is ". Tried to start again and everything went crazy!! 1. IDLE GOES UP AND DOWN, GAS PEDAL DON'T WORK AND AFTER FEW MINUTES IT GOES AWAY "LIKE EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL". I drove it for a mile and start doing it again "very rough idle and stalls". I've noticed that gas fumes smells so bad. Please let me know what to do... any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Mines doing this same thing . . . I have to take it to a shop next week . . . I used my code reader and it told me a throttle position sensor. I bought a new one and it still does the same thing ! ! !

I'll let you know what I find out . . .

First diagnostic code you had was Mass Air Flow Sensor. If you have access to a known good MAF sensor, replace with that and see if that cures the problem. The symptoms you've listed tend to lead me in to that [MAF] direction.

I have a '92 325i and I usually change the plugs every year...it kinda seem like cheap insurance, and the car runs about as well as it can...glad the fix was relatively simple for you.
