Illimunation or Light on the shifter area is dead.

To get to the light where the lighter is you need to pop out the OBC (put your hand in the area of the glasses holder, raise your finger through the hole on top of it, feel around for the rear of the OBC and just psuh it out), then you take out the sun glasses holder which i think is the same piece as where the cigarette lighter is and there you go, the light bulb is right there on the other side of the cigarette lighter.
Now, the shifter, I don't think manuals have anything lit up so i am guessing you have an automatic. Remove all the pieces mentioned above, reach you hand in between the tranny tunnel and the console, move your fingers closer to the shifter and gently push the whole panel up. It should pop out with no problems, but you might want to take off the shifter handle if you want to remove that panel completely. To remove the shifter knob you need an allen key (don't remember the size) to get the screw out. Look at the knob from the front of the car and you should be able to find it. It is a lot easier to do if you shift it into "1", you just have more space.
