Inspection Question

Hi all
I bought a 325i a month or so ago, now i am about to take the car for an inspection at a bmw dealer (did not do it before cause i was out of town). (89000 miles 1995 325i)
The OBC indicates low coolant, i cheked the price: a coolant and oil change with the general inspection comes to almost $500 at the stealer. My question is, should jut go ahead with inspection 2 ($750 at the stealer) even if the instrument panel does not say it yet or just do the ins+coolant+oil and wait till teh car's computer says it needs it ?????
One last question, i live in Mn, St cloud, anyone know of a good place for maintainance on teh car around here, cause the stealer's not cheap.

Don't go to a dealer! A good place to get recommendations on local independents is the local chapter of the BMWCCA.
If you have any mechanical ability, an inspection is not a difficult job.

in the US, do independantr dealers make entries in the service record and are thos as accepted as the dealer stamps? just out curiousity as i don't know how it works here.

A good shop SHOULD do this, although is seems that not may do. as far as there acceptance, for the average person, yes. If you are trying to warranty something with BMW, things could get ugly as they try to deny things since their dealer didn't perform the service. This situation should be able to be worked through, but just as a heads up since BMWNA is notorious for this sort of thing.
