After trying the itrip fm transmitter for my IPOD and getting really bad results I starting looking to get it hard wired. I went with the Dension (www.dension.com) kit which wires directly into the CD changer wiring. The sound is great!
The product is a little expensive ($200.00) for simple wiring and a slot in harness but it is the best solution. One nice thing is you are not restricted to just 6 play lists like so others, you can see all the lists on your IPOD.

Can you control the music selection through your steering wheel controls? I also purchased the iTrip - crap as, you have to hold the thing near the roof to get good reception.

Thats funny because I held my itrip in the same way.
Yes you have full control of the ipod through the steering wheel and the radio. You have the first 5 playlists on the radio (1-5), number 6 enters all the playlists where you can see all your playlists, and obviously the volume
Since I put the wiring in I can say the sound it better than from a CD!
You do have to be happy removing interior panels and the carpet but it is quite simple.
You do have to buy a dash bracket if you want it mounted. Hope this helps

while i like my bmw solution, i really hate the limited playlists. esp since i don't update my playlist on a regular basis.. Denison's soultion seems a pretty good alternative, if not a better one.

How much work is it taking out the radio and such to hardwire the Ipod using Denison wiring? I saw the kit in BestBuy this week. I don't mind doing a little work but don't want to hack up my dash doing it. Also, do I have to disconnect my CD changer to hook up the IPOD with this solution? I know some of the other solutions require me to do so. If so, who wants to buy a CD changer?
