Is there such thing as a 328is 4-door?

This guy swears this E36 3er is a 328is but it has 4-doors. I thought the "is" for the E36 meant it was basically like how a "ci" is for a E46?

Your right. The Is designates that it is a coupe on the E36 models. The I models are 4 door. What he is probably thinking is that it is an Is if it came with the sports package. The sports package was offered on the 4 doors also. But still named the 325 I, or 328 I. Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

You're both right. IS was the Coupe with a few different things (much more is different on E30 Is's than E36 IS's.)

You should ask him who installed the rear 2 doors if it's a factory 328is
