low huming noise from speakers

I just installed an auxilary input for an mp3 player. Everything works and I didn't run into any problems. However, now I notice a small huming noise even when the radio is turned off! It's very faint but when I have the windows up I can make it out. I wouldn't think there would be a noise when the radio is off, but apparently there is. Installing the aux input was rather simple, so I sure hope I didn't ruin anything. Anyone know what this might be? Also, did I void my warranty by installing this cable myself? Thanks in advance!

is the aux port being used, or at least connected while the radio's off? if so, try pulling the plug out when the radio's off.

when you plug in via the aux port, there is some noise that is introduced to the system. altho you'd figure it shouldn't bleed through when the unit's off, but you never really know..

i doubt the warranty issue, but not 100% sure. and even if there is a warranty issue, it'll only be for the head unit.

Thanks, someone said it's probably a ground loop. I'll have to yank my trim off and take my radio out again to disconnect the aux input. I guess for now I'll just deal with the hum until I can get another cable or have the dealer check it out. Thanks!
