Hi guys,

I bought a bmw 318i 1997 a few days ago. the kilometer shows 98270 km,
i discovered that the guy who sold me the car decreased the kilometer from 248960 km to 98270 km .However the service book of the car shows that he used to mantain his car regularly through inspection 1 and 2 and oil service.

I need to know how much time do you think i can drive the car before it goes dead? and how much the kilometer can reach before the car goes dead .

a car with a 250000km is it a good car?

please help.

In the United States, messing with the odometer and selling a vehicle with rolled back miles is a crime. Not sure on your local laws but you got screwed. The engine might still last you a while......but that does not skip the fact that you got ripped off on the vehicle. Might want to look into legal info in what you can do. That is just my opinion.[eek]

I agree. I would do what it takes to give the car back or at least get some of your money back. I wouldn't be scared of a vehicle with that many miles(km) if it was well cared for. I would just want to make sure that I didn't pay for something I didn't get.

karim, that crime should be punished. it is not about the engine lasting or not. it is the whole. struts, mounts, bearings, alternator, pumps....basically everything. the engine itself can pretty much be flawless, but it is natural that at certain age an usage the car needs certain replacements, whatever the care was in the past.

you got robbed and should fiht for your right. at least in my book!
