I've been giving this alot of thought... I have a '97 328is and absolutely love it and see no reason to ever get rid of it. I love the E46 models too though, I've driven some as loaner cars (and my ex-girlfriend had a 325i).. so solid and such drivers cars, another step above the E36

What do you guys think about that? I feel like keeping my E36 forever, as a project car or runaround car or whatever... it's hardly worth anything on the market any more but it's worth so much to me..

And finally, when are E46s going to start coming down in price?! Even the first 330 coupes are still going for $28 large!

Later, Mike

The E46 bimmers are beautiful cars, but the E36s are great cars, too. Like you said they aren't worth much on the market any more, which was good for me, since I got mine for a really low price. Of course, it was whipped and not maintained super well, though the interior was really clean (aside from the speaker trim BS). I am not sporting a bankroll like most bimmer drivers seem to be, so the E36 was ideal. If I was looking at a newer ride for just under $20k, I would look at 97-99 M3s. But and E46 wouldn't be a bad choice.....

I know what you mean about wanting to keep your E36 around forever too... I am going to start my race prep with in the next month or two, and even though she's my daily driver, I am going to set her up with some coil-overs, and nice(r) brakes (warped new stockers autoxing in short order). Then we'll talk engine...

So get as many bimmers as possible.
