my fan doesn't work :(

1989 535i:

the vent. fan in my car usually won't work.. it will come on sometimes but most of the time, nothing. it is frustrating because my car as an awesome a/c, but i can't use it. i have heard this is an issue for the e34.

I think the entire climate control "module" needs to be changed, but i have heard it can be other things, too.

does anyone have any input on what i might need to do to fix this?

Hope you are surviving the heat w/o ac.
The fan on my 89 started sqealing and stopped working on the slower speeds.
Exposing the fan impeller and applying liberal amounts of lubricant to the bearings seems to have done the trick. Unfortunately the fan is located under the dash but you have to through the firewall behind the coolant reservoir. Best of luck
