i noticed recently that after i fill up my car or put gas in it at any time it goes down quite a bit even when i don't drive it. i noticed the interior was ridden of fuel but found it the mech left the seal under the rear seats loose so i tightened that up and the fuel smell was gone but the fuel is still disappearing. i don't see any leaks or anything underneath when i go out and check in the morning. anyone experiencing the same problem?

What year, model, and engine do you have? Yes, it could make a difference.

If you have EVER overfilled your tank (which you probably have), you could have messed up the charcoal canister which will cause a drop in fuel efficiency. Fuel leaks would only occur when the car is on, sine there is no pressure when the car is turned off.

Check your entire tank for (fuel) moisture. My E34 tank had a crack in it that was small enough to hold when the tank was less than ¾ full, but when filled, it would leak in a way that most of it would evaporate not leaving a noticeable pool on the ground. So my first quarter of a tank always went fast, until I changed the tank.

I have a 92 325i (E36/M50). Even without a full tank it does it but I guess it only took one time for me to overfill it. I will test it out again later on when the sun goes down.

Well, I went to the BMW shop today and sure enough they found the problem. I was under the seat where the fuel pump is. There was a little puddle of fuel because the hose wasn't tight enough to keep the pressure in and the seal on the big ring wasn't tight enough so my mech tightened it up and it is currently under test now but I am sure that's what it is. I found out that I need a new flex disk soon so guess who is gonna change that? Thanks for the help guys.
