I'm afraid I know very little about suspension work. I really would love to learn more. I know what the terms mean. I know camber and toe-in and toe-out and all that stuff but I'm not really sure how the "tuning" is done

Another question

Why do you want to reduce the negative camber? I thought that is when the tires are toed out. My M has the rear tires with the bottom out (toe out?) and it really does give it extra bite coming out of the turns. If it's not to extreme it won't chew your tires too much.

Does anyone in here know of a cheaper way to correct negative camber on the front of an e36 then the plates?
Just remembered, my mechanic was saying something about switching the front suspension. Meaning put the right on the left and vice-versa to get a desired effect. But that is probably just as much of a pain if not more than the plates.

Actually the car would bite better if there was no negative camber. by reducing the negative camber you are placing more of the surface of the tire on the road in turn creating a better ride with more grip for turning and handeling. with the negative camber , although it feels like a better grip, there is less tire on the road wearing out the inner side of the tires and actually gripping the road less.

Thanks to everyone for the input. I called one of my friends who also races and he is going to email me the diagram of how to fix the negative camber in the front for alot less then the plates cost. When i get it i will post it up on the board for anyone else who is interested in the process.[thumb] [burnout] [driving]

If negative camber was bad why do people intentionally do it? Does it happen just by your suspension getting worn out? If my car has it do I need to get something fixed?

If you or anyone know a website where I could read up on how suspension modifications affect handling that would be great.

i know by lowering the car the handleing becomes better due to the lower center of gravity. i have never heard of people intentially enducing negative camber, but then again i could be wrong.
