My BMW dealer has a 2002 530i with premium and cold weather package and 34K miles on it. Of course it comes with the CPO warranty 6 yr/100,000 mi. I offered him $31K for it. What do you think of the price?

I loved the car. But the acceleration seemed a little muted compared to 325i . Is that just a feeling or is this true beacuse 530i is a bigger car?

Are there any major known problems with the 2002 530i that I should ask the dealer about.

Thanks
VJ

The price is fair. Most of the '02-'03 cars I've seen sell for someplace around $30,000, give or take a couple thousand depending on mileage, equipment, and condition. I paid $31,000 for my '02 recently. If the dealer is eager to sell, you might get it for a bit less, but chances are if it's a nice car, somebody else will be willing to pay that for it.

As for major problems or issues with this model, I haven't heard of any. In 2002, Consumer Reports rated the 530i as the best car they ever tested, if that's worth anything to you.
