Thought I'd post a photo of my first BMW. I bought this car from a private owner last month, who lives in the same town as I. I don't suppose there is much to say about it... It had 82k miles, has an automatic transmission (good for the wife), leather seating, the paint is Morea Green, and the interior is tan.

Mechanically speaking, the car is incredibly sound. As far as cosmetics are concerned, the grill and hood have some chips. There are also a couple of chips on the left rear door panel. The leather and carpeting had various stains/discolorations when purchased, but with some time and a few products I was able to return it to a nearly new condition.

The cigarette lighter is missing, and the after-market CD player looks atrocious next to the amber/red lighting. The basic on-board computer (temperature and 'check') has problems with 'dead' pixels, and the time does not display. And, finally, the Brake Light Circuit will need replacing as is indicated intermitantly by the computer.

Minor annoyances aside, I'm having a lot of fun with the car, it is a pleasure to drive.

Also, as you can see, it has become my signature. =)

Check You Brake Lights. I Think That Is What Caused My "blc"to Come On. And If The Obc Is Indeed F'd Up (not Just A Bulb) It Is Easily Replaced

Congratulations!! And welcome to the board. I'm sure as time goes on, you'll learn to accept the quirks of your car that it seems like there's never any time to fix. (I know I have).

I bought the exact same car (except red color) almost a year ago.
I have replaced most of the things you mentioned in your post. Thanks to this board, I have leanred a lot about BMWs and in the process I saved a bundle.
I recently added a home made Cold Air Intake (stainless steel tube, K&N Filter,
cut a hole in the brake duct, etc.)

Good Luck with yours !!!

Change the brake light switch [located behind the brake pedal] there was a service recall on the switch as they had a problem with the original supplier. It will kill the brake light warning that you mentioned. Oh yeh, the switch is very easy to R&R.
