I just got a used 99 323 iS with beautiful 17" Mille rims. This is my first BMW and I love the car. The oil serice light came on and I changed it myself with Mobile 1. Also the SRS (airbag) light just came on. I'm trying to figure out which tool to get. Is there one that reads engine codes; resets oil/service light and checks engine codes; and then checks other codes like the SRS? I've seen the tool at bimmerzone (R5/FCXII and R5/SRS) these two would cost me $260. The others I've seen, I think they just reset the lights but don't read the codes. What works out there and what are others using?

I posted this in the E46 forum but I figured guys with older cars are more DIY hands-on and I'm not sure a lot is different. Thanks.

best advice is invest in the srs reset tool, my freekin srs light has been a problem in my car since i drove it off the lot... everything has been covered so far but it makes things easier to call up my dealer and say that i need to bring the car in for a passenger seat sensor replacement, instead of "hi, my airbag light is on... how much is it gonna cost to fix?"

the peak tool works great...
