OBC on the blink

quick question fellas....my OBC seems to be on the blink...sometimes when i'm looking at the clock i'll notice that a part of the number(the time) is missing....for example my 3 looks a little like ]..missing either the middle part or the top part....and when i hit the check button the phrase that shows up looks a little like chinese....can anybody help....do i need a new OBC... how much would it cost...

I have an e30 that does that. At times it will scroll looking like some fast moving billboard. I have been told that it is the battery on the SI board, but I don't know for sure. The clock portion keeps accurate time and everything works, just once in a while she goes nutz!

yeah my e30 325 does that too. i just press on the thing hard and it stops screwing up for a week or two. then it starts up again..... keeps perfect time though..........

yea my time and date are accurate....but when i hit the check button it comes up with this wacky phrase something like...CHECK BLA, BLA,BLA ...I WANT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM..PLEASE HELP

my friend has a 92 325I that his is all messed up. His temp shows about 145Degrees on a 75 wheather day. Not only that, his clock does the same thing your do. He took it to the BMW dealership here and they told him that it's some sensor that cost about $25. Good luck though.

Sounds like the unit is going out. They have some on Ebay that go pretty cheap for a replacement. Not the answer you probably wanted.....but hope it helps. Alot of people actually remove the unit to install stereo components.

thanks for the help fellaz....i have an appointmentr with the local dealer here to have them check it out....maybe when they determine the problem if i need a new OBC i'll pick one up from ebay
