onboard computer , screen going blank???

i have a 92 325i and my onboard computer screen will flash the temp for a few seconds then shut off, it blinks 37c and when i try to set it or touch any other buttons it goes blank

help!!

the 37 is the warning that you get near freezing. it warns you to be carefull. i do not remember perfectly if there was an on/off switch or if you just have to press the hr/dat button to get that obc on. if you tried that, hit the temp button.
