Power Steering fluid???

I know this may sound like an dumb question, but I am low on power steering fluid and am a bit confused about what type of fluid to use. I own a 95 325ic, and am new to bmw. I was told several different things, one guy told me to by oem fluid from bmw, another said to use atf from any parts store, and another said any generic power steering fluid would work. Can ya help a newbie out?

i believe the owner's manual says to use ATF.

Yiou know what , I'm not sure . But I would call the dealer and ask him if you can use atf or the other ps fliud from the stores. Do you still have a manual for the car ?

BMW uses Dexron II in the power steering with the exception of any car with the self leveling system. This can be purchased at any auto parts store, Wal Mart, Kmart and others. (it is basically GM's ATF)

on the lid of the power steering reservoir it says "ATF Fluid Only"...so i would think any ATF fluid would suffice...

i used the leftover synthetic Mobil 1 ATF fluid from my tranny fluid swap (btw i used ATF for my manual tranny which is supposedly better for daily drivers).
