Well Guys I have hit a bump in the road to improving my car...It seems I am running out of ideas. I have a 1993 318i, I know some of you will say just buy a car with a bigger engine or out in a bigger engine...well I REALY like my car the way it is as far as looks go...I have the angle eye headlights and all that stuff, it looks good. and I race my car at the track in the 4cyl. division so I do not want to put a bigger engine in it. Heres what I do have on my car to improve its preformance:

-Dinan Engine chip
-Dinan exhaust
-K&N cold air intake (custom made)
-Dinan High Flow throttle body
-DowningAtlanta Eaton Supercharger

I'm not insane so I will not be putting NOS on my 4cyl engine, I am also hotwire on a electric fan from a 318ti that sits further off my engine and allows more air to reach the engine, keeping it cooler, which allows it to preform even better. Other than that guys I'm running out of ideas...any ideas to add more Hp to my car? anything? thanks guys

I'd recommend (if it's not a show car you won't mind) going to mienekie (spelling?) and getting a nice big custom exhaust if you decide on getting a supercharger. You can probably get your whole exhaust opened way up to like 2 inches for like 300 bucks, no joke, including cats. But only do that if you get a supercharger because otherwise you'll probably lose power. Also, post what exactly that supercharger kit includes.

Brandon, just curious but how much HP are you putting to the ground? Your ride sounds impressive as is.

Have you thought of a lighter flywheel or short shifter?

Tom, I have not had my car Dyno tested as of yet so I am not sure how much rear wheel Hp I am putting out...I talked to a guy with a DA supercharger on his 318i, his was all stock except for the SC, he had his Dyno tested and it had 184 rear wheel Hp...From what I have figured out and from what my mech. has said I have about 230 Base Hp with an additional 5 or 7 Hp coming when I put the electric fan in, I dont want to take a guess at the rear wheel Hp because all it would be is a guess...I am going to have to Dyno tested within the month though

try to get rid of as much weight as possible for racing. take the old seats out and get new racings one in. they are lighter.

how about a rear differential? that will help your traction.

this is hardcore but you could take your engine to be refinshed (i think thats what they call it)
put in new piston heads and such, have a machine shop bore out the piston column [???1] etc...

i got that stuff from 2NRTV (it's funny seeing how fugly those cars are)

thats all i can come up with now.

BRAKES my friend, get some hot brakes. if you look in the racing forum there is a picture of a friends of mine's bimmer with big porsche 4pots, they are wicked cool. otherwise go zimmerman or brembo or something along those lines. have you done front/rear strut braces, or anti-roll bars?

If you get a port/polish job done, throw in a hotter cam for some extra kick.

Quick question... did you have to upgrade to a VANOS head with your SC? I think the upgrade is necessary with the Dinan.

Willis, No i didnt have to upgrade to VANOS with the SC....the dinan chip wasnt a factor b/c all it does is change the rev. limit and take off the top speed...if it were to do other non sense to my engine and timing such as other chips do then as is the SC would have some problems with it

Willis, ok sorry yes i misunderstood you as well...No i have not had any problems what so ever with the DowningAtlanta SC...I checked out a lout of SC's before I with with Downing and I can say that I could not have made a better choice, their SC is as close to prefect as you can get when making a SC for the BMW 4cyl. engine
