i think the windshield wiper had a short in the steering column, because every time i drive somewhere, at completely random times, the wipers will go off. maybe once, maybe 3 times. but then it stops for a few minutes.
is this something i can troubleshoot on my own, or should i take it to a mechanic. i just had to replace my battery, and im wondering if this may have been the culprit. however it had only happened twice before i bought the new battery. not it does it every time i get in the car. [?|]

thanks for the help

Had the same problem in an old Toyota. Turned out to be a wire harness that needed some cleaner and cleaning; and when the car hit a bump or came to a fast stop it would do that. I'd fish around down there and disconnect and clean all connections before taking it to a shop. Good Luck man.

i just took it to my mechanic to put new tires i ordered on. he said it was a plastic pieice that wears out and sags to where the connectors touch and triggers the event.
looks like im going to get him to order the part and install it, because it involves removing the steering column and getting past the air bag.. over my head. with my luck id trigger it and give myself whiplash, lol.
