Sachs shocks/struts

I've come across these:

Anybody uses Sachs struts? Also, I want to use them with stock E36 springs (the springs supplied are lowering the car about 1.5"). Can I still use them, so would I get excessive vertical movement? Are the strut mounts all the same for different struts (I would also like to keep my stock ones).

When you buy a kit that comes with the springs, then you must use those springs because they are 'matched' meaning the shocks were designed for those springs. If you use your stock springs, there will be no lowering, and you will get a very horrible ride after a short time due to the mis-match of shocks.

The thing is - after putting on 17" rims and matching tires with a low sidewall, the ride became rougher, and I didn't want to suffer even more from hard lowering springs/shocks kit. I know that Bilstein Heavy Duty shocks work with stock springs; however, they're out of my price range for now. What shocks/springs give a very smooth ride and still lower the car about an inch?

I know what you mean by the shitty ride due to wheel/tire upgrade, but unfortuatley i don't know of any spring/shocks that will lower and increase comfort.
