I drive a '95 AT 325i (102K miles) and I recently escaped an accident at an intersection which I think is a brake failure ...I was racing the car and I braked at an intersection that was turning red. The car wouldn't come to a complete stop at the intersection and started moving forward..I could see cars to the left of me coming towards me..I really got lucky since the other cars braked on time and I escaped a side collision..that was reallllllllllllly scarry..I also heard some kind of noise from my car but really couldn't figure at that moment where that sound came from .. I drove the car home conservatively after that and my brakes seemed fine...I have been driving for a day now and I don't see any problem. I am taking it to a mechanic tomorrow and here are some Q's I have before that,
(i) Before this incident I have felt weakness in brake when going downslope etc. But the brake seemed to be good otherwise. What could be the inherent problem?
(ii) A few months auto tranny in my car was replaced with a rebuilt tranny by an independent mechanic. The car has been good since then but some times the car revs a little when I come to a stop suddenly esp. at traffic lights etc. Can this overpower the brake system and cause the car to move forward eventhough the brake pedal is suppressed?
(iii) What could be the potential reason for engine revs when I come to a sudden stop?
Thanks in advance for helping me out.
