it started out as a high pitch squeling noise right when you start the car, which sounds like it is coming from behind the glove box area. then it turned into a girlgling noise. it quits after about two mnutes when the pump then shuts off. it does not make any noise now, because the pump does not work at all now, i took it to the shop for other reasons. also, it can make you check engine light come on.

Secondary Air Pump

This is a quick and easy fix. The pump is approx. $235 and the control valve is approx. $100 (Arizona Autohaus). First, remove the input and output hoses to the pump. Remove the pump by loosening the three bolts that attach it to the inside fender well. Remove the electrical connection. Remove the intake hose and the vacuum hose from the control valve. Remove the two nuts that attach the control valve to the exhaust manifold. (Note: If exhaust is backflowing to the air pump, the control valve is probably bad. If the control valve is bad, exhaust may continuously flow back to the pump, even when the pump shuts off. This is probably what caused your pump to fail. The electronic solenoid valve provides the vacuum to the control valve for approx. 2 mins when the car is first started cold. You can confirm this by placing your finger over the vacuum line to check for vacuum. If there is no vacuum, then you need to check the line and perhaps the electronic solenoid valve.)
Installation is reversal of removal.
When the installation is complete, go to Auto Zone and have them check and clear associated fault codes.
Good Luck
