Sluggish

I recently paid to have my car tuned up and refreshed. All in all I spent close to $6,000.00 on its revitalization. Unfortunately, the car still performs rather sluggishly. I put an AA exhaust on and have a new cat and new pipes. When I go from Park to Drive, it takes the car a minute before it catches, and doesn't move unless I have my foot firmly planted. When it eventually starts to move it takes a while to get going. I am not expecting a race car, but I mean it feels like I am constantly driving with the e-brake on. Do you have any suggestions? I also feel weird vibrations under my feet when I am idle, or moving slowly. What is my car missing? Without investing a ton of money, is there anything that you might recognize by my description that you can suggest? Thank You

From what you described, it sounds like the Catalytic converter is plugged, but you mentioned that you replaced it.

You may also have a brake caliper that is dragging, or like you said, the ebrake is dragging.

PS what model are we talking about here? [:D]

if the brake was catching enough to do what you described after a few miles you would smell real bad burning and it could catch fire so its probably not that (i'm assuming you've driven more than 10miles at a time?) check for dirt in the throttle bodies spark plugs and any where else that there could be some.

shitty fuel, dirty injectors, could be as obvious as something stuck under the pedal.... but probably not. hmmm, what else, check your intake and air filter. ahhhh, what else. also it could take a while for your ecu to adapt to what you had all done. if you had the throttle remapped and stuff it will take a few days. other details might help us, but thats all i can offer as of now.

Thank you so much for all of your help. Do you have any suggestion as to where I can find a diagram or a description of how to check on all of these things? Thank You again.

My 320i got sluggish after a cat crawled up into the motor and then crapped in front of the air intake. I got cat shit in the motor and it really slowed down.

I'm going to need a job at the end of the week. Anyone got room for someone who doesn't really want to work too hard but likes crashing company vehicles?

Try checking the air filter first. Next check that all the rubber bits are in one piece as even a pin hole will ruin the air/fuel mixture and won't necessarily show up on the OBC unless it gets bad upon which the service lights will come on.

Brake circuit could mean there is a leak in the brake circuits ( needs careful checking ) or possibly some of the wires have deteriorated and you are getting a false reading ( but check your brake circuits ( hydraulics ) are OK.

I'm trying Avis. Apparantly part of the initiation is to wreck one of the company cars. A friend of mine was told that but couldn't get himself to fly into one so he gently pressed one of the cars into a wall and then floored his car. He made so much smoke that some passerby called the fire department! He got the job!

Do you actually post anything that is of value or do you just like to rant?
