Spark plug wrench size

Will 5/8" spark plug wrench work for BMW? I know BMW uses 16mm spark plugs but in the autoparts store 5/8" wrench is all they have, they told me it works for European cars but I want to double-check with you guys. 5/8" is very close to 16mm but not exactly that size, it's 15.875mm. Thanks in advance.

autoparts store with no metric stuff?!?!?! in sanfran?!?!?!?! i can't tell you cause i've never used a 15.875mm on an 16mm, but beee careful when you torque you spark plugs.

I always was under impression that most european and american cars use the same size spark plugs, isn't it the case? This is a bit confusing

Just tried that 5/8" wrench on old Bosch spark plug (I assume it's 16mm) - fits it just fine, it's not even holding it tight. I guess they marked 16mm spark plug wrench as 5/8" so it will be easier for Americans to understand the size or 0.125mm difference simply doesn't matter much for a wrench since it's made a little bigger than a spark plug anyway.
