I have been trying to decide what the best mode to drive my M3 is.

I feel that the default is way too hindered. I tried to do a power drift around a turn, and the traction controll literally killed the engine for a moment before the wheels were going to spin.

I had more problems controlling that than if the back kicked out a little bit.

So I turned both traction ctrls off, and that's been working out. why are there two? I can peel out, and I pulled some nice turns this weekend. I feel that without sport on, the car is held back in low RPMs especially in 1st and 2nd gear.

Sport mode is very sensitive and powerful, especially when in first gear. The thing is I got used to the defualt mode where you have to give a good amount of gas to stop it from stalling. I like to switch it into sport after about second gear for a little boost.

90% of the time I'm in default. But there's that 10% of the time when I remind myself why I bought this car.

I've recently switched it all up, driving sport all the time now. the car makes more sense to me now. I don't know if anyone else experienced this, but without sport on, the gas pedal seems to not engage the engine until you press it about a couple of inches, while on sport, it engages right away, and leads to nice shift transitions.

Beware on turns though, especially when switching into second, the low end torque can make the wheels spin if you have both tractions off.

I know what you mean. Though sport is "touchier" it has a more consistant feel as you press the accelerator. I wish there was a way to allow you to chose to keep sport mode on instead of having to press it at start up.
