ok, this is a weird weird problem. today when i got to my dads house i set the ebrake and got out. i noticed when my weight was off the car it squeaked. so i sat back down, squeak. up, squeak, down, well, you get the point. when i got home i pulled into my garage and didn't set the ebrake and when i got out, no squeak. so i set the ebrake and got out, and squeak.

what the hell is going on.[?|]

mine does it all the time... what jcblaschke said, the car moves just a little bit and thus the squeak... kind of like if you're sitting at an intersection stopped and you let off the brakes just a tiny bit, you creep forward and the brakes moan

You probably know this already but to check the ebrake pads you will have to take off your rotor/drum. they are seperate from your rear disk brakes. bimmers have a rotor/drum brake combination in the back. drum for the ebrake and rotor for normal braking. this keeps te rear rotors form warping after using the ebrake after extreme racing/braking of the rotor brakes.

the ebrake pads are the m:

honestly that could be it. My ebrake liner was just replaced 5000 miles ago, and i have to pull the lever up super far to get it to bite. i've thought of looking into that.

yeah, mine makes a rattling noise, and i have to drive with the ebrake pulled up one notch to put some added tension on it-just before the ebrake light comes on.maybe try that and see if it still squeaks.
