Stelarship trying to rip me off????

Ok ...as i was saying in another thread my car wouldn't start in the morning so i took it to the stelarship and they just told me that i need a new DME or PCM they said that is the same thing some kind of gizmo that controls most of my engine and tranny , and taht they have to order it from Germany so the final price it will be around 1400$ ....
I just wanna know if u guys had this problem and if u think that the price is acceptable !!!Or maybe if u know a place from were i can get the part for a better price ...they told me that i can't get it from another car(second hand ) !!!
So what should i do ... go on thir hand or ????

I would find the best independent BMW shop in your area and take it there for a second opinion. Unless you have no other choice, the dealer is the last place to take your M once it's out of warrantee, IMHO. If the indy shop tells you the same thing, more likely than not they'll charge you less to fix it. And, you'll know you're dealer isn't trying to pull a fast one.
