Im Having Throttle problems with my E36 328, As soon as the car warms up i find that the revs are slow to drop between gear changes, and also that in some cases the revs can stick totally but no stiffness is felt in the pedle, It seems to be quite random apart from the fact the car needs to warm up, I have taken it to BMW who (for some reason) have not seen the problem, but i have had various suggestions from, Mechanical stickyness, to ECU and sensor issues, its really spoiling my enjoyment of the car, has anyone seen this before?? apparently my car has all relevent recalls, BMW did however charge me £98 to tell me that. My sticking throttle probelm still remaines. For reference to anyone else who has this problem i have been told by an independant garage that there are sticking issues in the idle control valve locatated where the air intake ducting meets the engine body, Im having the lot cleaned out and will keep you informed, apparently an incorrect air pressure reading here can affect idle as well as cause over reving mid drive.

I would request my money back! Recalls are their **** up, not yours and are paid out to the dealership by BMW themselves. Speak to the manager to get your cash back. If Global Import feels like they can charge me money for a recall, they have another thing coming

Funny you should say that, i argued that very thing and only had to pay for memory re-call on the ECU. They still didnt find the problem however, But more recently i had the idle control valve cleaned out, which was full of crap the the problem IS STILL THERE, i plan on stripping the throttle body, cable etc next to see if its something that simple. Failing that im going to have to consider getting rid of a car ive never had the pleasure of really driving. since ive only had it since april. I dont think i have a chance taking it back to the dealer now. do I? [bigcry] [?|]

with the hook open and you watching the throttle switch on the key and make sure it is doing the swipe. If not cruise cable motor could be casuing this problem.

They could have accessed you service records on the dealerships computer system as well as through BMW AG. I had my 97 Z3 2.8 checked by calling BMW NA and they said that there was an open repair order showing in their system, therefore the car had not been repaired. This would cost nothing. Piror to the fix my cable stuck and the car was totalled! (you guess the rest)

I think 328's come with cruise standard. what you can do, an be very careful is to take the ride out on an open stretch and test the cruise control to see if that's why its sticking. i think you can only engage cruise if you are doing 35+ mph. if it does get stuck while driving, throw your ride in neutral and power her down....you have found your problem. you might also want to take off the airbox hose from the throttle body and open your throttle body to ensure nothing is blocking the door OR the tension spring that keeps it closed isn't sticking
