guys, I have 320i 1993, my ride is a bit bouncy, I need new shocks or springs, not really sure??
1- Is it really my shocks and struts or just the springs??

2- Did anybody try the Monroe Sensa-Trac Shocks and Struts???
and what do you think if I install them on my sweetheat??
Please Help.

Thanks in advance.

You'll need new shocks at least. Do not go with monroe!!! That is sacreligious to BMW's. They won't last long and will be inadqueate -- if they even make shocks that will fit.

Buy some bilstein touring shocks. They are gas shocks and bilstein makes probably the best shocks in the world. I did mine on my own -- took about half a day.

The Bilsteins are the way to go. There are more expensive but worth every cent. They will last much longer than the Monroes, so in the long run they are cheaper.

I put Bilsteins on my Suburban about a month ago. What a difference they made. I can now hold 1G in the corners [rofl]. Seriously, they made a HUGE difference in handling and ride while towing.

Putting Monroes on a bimmer would be a downgrade.

1.) You don't need to bother with using the bmw dealer, just get someone to put in the correct parts. There are plenty of independant mechanics that will put in a good suspension for you.

2.) Do you even know that they're bad? People immediately attibute poor ride quality to their suspension where it could be something as simple as improperly inflated tires or just poor tires in general.

3.) To test your suspension, get out of your car and bounce your car up and down. If it keeps bouncing up and down for a couple of oscillations after you stop pushing it, you know that your shocks are in trouble. Do it at all 4 corners. In order to save you money (which is something that you are interested in if you even thought about putting Monroe <ugh!> shocks on your car), you may find that only one set will need replacement. You can get away with only doing front shocks or rear shocks, especially if the shocks you are installing do not differ much from stock dampening. However, I'd expect the set you did not replace to die soon afterwards.

Thanks
I tried the " get out of the car and bounce it, and see if it keeps on bouncing" .
I am sure it's the shocks, because it doesn't stop bouncing, lol

I set up an appointment with the dealer this week, it will cost $1250 CDN at least with tax.
and I shopped around but I still got the best price from BMW dealer, I think they have it on special these days or somehing.

Thanks for the tip.
