Just got my new tail lights but I am having problems with the install. I unplugged the harness and unfastened the 4 bolts but my stock tail lights won’t budge. Am I missing something? Any input would really be appreciated.

I just got my lights too, haven't installed them yet though. Where do you push? From the inside of the trunk out I gather.

bmw4life13, how much did you pay for your oem tail lights? I got oem ones too off ebay for 148.00, dealer wanted $284!!

hello. You did everything right. You just have to push really good because the rubber seal holds sometimes pretty tight.

Youll get it!!!

i suggest highly not getting altezza tails for ur e36... they look great but they are made poorly and leak. Everytime it rains I have a tail light failure, and no brake lights. After a couple of miles though they kick into gear and start working... very strange.

Alright guys, need to ask a favor and see if you could help a brother out. I was parked outside of a restaurant last night and some jack ass rear ended me (must have been with a truck because it didn't touch my bumper) and smashed the crap out of my driver side light and dented my quarter panel pretty good and of course just drove away. If any of you would want to part with your oem lights please let me know it would be a big help. Thanks guys!

Stay away from cheap aftermarket tail lights. These are the ones that tend to leak…just ask carcus. Included in the cheap aftermarket tail lights are the alteeza (by far the worst quality) the taiwanese made ones, and APC. Try and get the OEM tail lights from either Bavarian autosport or bekkars. OEM lights are made by bmw parts manufacturer’s like hella. Oem parts are usually a little more expensive but are worth it!!! Personally I recommend bekkars for purchasing tail lights….they are very friendly and have cheaper oem prices than Bavarian autosport. My experience with Bavarian autosport was miserable. Not only were they RUDE over the phone, they proceeded to sell me tail lights that weren’t even in stock . I found this out a week later when I didn’t get my stuff. The guy on the phone then acted like it was my fault that they lied about having these lights in stock. F**K them…as I took my business to bekkars and am very happy with my euro tail lights. Good luck.

I second that from personal experience.....100 bucks for a set of tail lights seems like a steal....but they leak and fog up.....the ALtezza style 2 on Ebay. Been there, done that. Unless you want to play with silicone.....save your money. I learned the hard way.[:(!] Just passing on the info to help a fellow BMW owner out.[^] Guess it is "You get what you pay for."

Good to hear they are working for you OK. I am in the market to get some new tail lights soon, had to ghetto the Altezza ones to work since the stock ones have a BIG break in them. Needes something. They are siliconed to hell....but at least work for now. Would like some nice Euro diamonds. Just got done spending a few grand paying off the wifes car so the tail lights and stereo upgrade I have planned....also the Hella angel eyes will have to wait. Glad you had good results. With the rain out here....rains almost every day in the summer, Mississippi..the humidity and heavy rain takes a toll on lights. I am making due though till I can get some new ones.[thumb]
