Hi, new to the Board so Helllo, Car is a 1995 325i convertable with 89,000 miles, ran perfect untill today, came to start it and it just cranked over and over as if it was out of petrol. i later noticed i could not hear the fuel pump, so i took it out of tank and checked it, worked fine, although there was no power at the connectors so i checked fuse and that was fine. Further investigation led me to the pump relay and i found that the relay itself works and its got 12v to the 30 and 86 pins, this then made me check ground connection which should be 85, this seems to be the cause of the the problem, no ground at pin 85, iv been told 85 is direct to ECU.
I later powered the pump up manually with wire in the fuse box and eventually the car started then ran fine there after without manual wire override in fuse box, but i seek a answer to why this might have happened.
Is it possible the BMW Series 3 alarm thats fitted is at fault and caused the imobilized pump, or is there somthing else more obviouse i should be looking at, any help would be great.
