yeah there are kits, and the place you buy them from will precut them, but its still REALLY hard to do if you've never done it before. you can fix mistakes, and the kits come with videos, but you might end up buying a second kit to do a better job. they are like $75 with tools and materials. but that only does the rear window, and rear passenger windows, not the driver or front passenger. and to do curved angles, you have to have a heat gun, which i dont think are cheap, to shrik the stuff around the corners. http://www.tintdude.com/laws.html look there for all the laws on tinting, personally i think its just better to have a professional do it, they can get it done in a few hours, and it'd take you a whole day.

good advice vlad. you'll save yourself a major headache by getting it professionally done. you should ask the bmw dealership where they get their cars tinted. that's what i did and i am very pleased with the tint job.

Well, for one my car isnt worth too much (5k) for two I dont plan on driving it for long, for three since my insurance went sky high (3k/6m) then the car is under liability ( Im 19... ) 4th Its illegal to have front windows tinted in IL which would mean that Id have to take the tint off and since that spray is one, cheap, easy to take off... seems like a good choice for me.What I wanna know is what should I expect from this product?

So how does the tint percentage work? I have a light 3M tint; it was the second from the "lightest" and about 3 from the dark "limo" tint of this particular type. The guy said it is legal in all states and is about the same as factory tinted windows with UV metallic protection and it was a $125.00 addition to the “normal” tint price. The guy told me that even though the tint is lighter, the uv protection and heat protection is much higher than many of the darker tints.

Mine looks a lot darker on the car, I think it may have something to do with the all black interior and roof liner.

I agree 100%, I attempted a tint job myself and it was a total nightmare on a different car. I had limo tint on a Passat before, regretted that when driving at night and having to back up with the rear window impossible to see through. Am getting the convert tinted, but have no idea what I will do with the plastic rear window. Wonder if they make tinted zip in window replacements.

Had mine professionally done. Glad i did. The young man used only one single piece for the rear window (normally an extra $50.00) but the company here in Fort Worth included it in the $125.00 price.
Went with 80% on the side windows, limo tint on the rear window. No problems with night driving.

Cheers,
Bill

my friend did his own windows and it was a huge pain for him and it took him a really long time just to do the drivers and passenger side windows on just the front of his car, and if its 75 bucks a kit you might as well pay another 75 and have it professionaly done. that way you will be garanteed a good job.....oh what color is the car? mines black and i have 5% all the way around and i think it looks really good, plus you have a lot less sun in your eyes and you have a bit of privacy if you wanna pick your nose or look at a pretty girl in the next car without her seeing you or something, but its a pain at night because all i can see is headlights through them, and its impossible to back out.

i live in illinois, and i have not had any problems with my tints. my rears are limos and my front sides are 20%. It looks awsome, and the cops dont mess with you unless you are doing something stupid. My advice is just get it done professionally, and tint the fronts also and dont think about the fact that it is illegal

tint observation:

they only ticket ricers for no reason

the only reason they would ticket you would be if you were an ass to them and the didn't have much else to write you up on.

carcus the second you figure out how you can tint the plastic, tell me plzzzzz... i thought of getting those spray cans the ones for tinting lenses but the dealer didn't advise me to do so since its not really plastic its a form of gellatin or something like that.

HELLRAZR: If you can't afford the professionally performed window tinting, don't do it. Reason, if you have to ask the question of using a spray can to achieve tinting, you don't want the agrivation of removing it before succuming to the professionally done job.
Save your allowance for $150.00 and have it professionally done. You will be glad you did.

when you get pulled over, roll down the windows...the cop will probably not even mention it, unless you are being a jackass and begin to argue with him/her...12 years, and no problems...California. Remember, sometimes they come from the passenger side, so dont forget to roll down both!!![headbang]

AND please, DONT try it yourself!!! [nono]
