tranny doesnt go into 1st

Hey,
i have a 325i automatic and the transmission doesnt go into 1st gear( thats how i got it) also when you look at the "lights" that mark in what gear you are, they sometimes are in the middle or on the wrong gear. anyone knows what could be wrong?

Wish I could help, but I know 0 about automatics! Have you checked out a Bentley or other repair manual?

Get yourself a bentley or haynes manual (bentley is more complete) and do an adjustment to the "gear selector cable". That's the first thing to try.
