Transmission Problem

When I shift from first to second, there is no problem. But when I downshift from third to second (rarely, only at slow speeds, not to pass), the transmission kicks it out of gear when I let up the clutch. It does it the most when I go around a corner with the clutch in and try to go into second for the exit. It feels fine when I shift into second, it's not untio I let out hte clutch that it kicks it back to neutral. I've found that I can get around it by blipping the throttle a little bit too high before I let out the clutch, sort of like how you would do if you were driving clutchless. The clutch feels fine otherwise, and it's never happened in any other gear. I'm probably going to put on an X-brace anyway, but I don't think it's an alignment/mount issue. The way I have to blip the throttle first points towards a synchronizer, but I really don't know transmissions that well. Has this ever happened to anybody else?

Thank you for your help. I've put this on 5 boards and gotten a ton of views, but so far you're the only person that's even guessed. Thank you, and don't buy from streetstyler.com.

I read your streetstyler complaint in your other thread..... (thats a ricer site btw) I have a feeling you're the only person with a BMW who is buying from them. They didn't even charge you for it, so what's the issue? If they didn't send you the product or don't have it then they don't bill you, period. How would you like it if they billed you and didn't send you anything, then I'd understand your campaign. But your mentioning of some arcane website which sells Honda mods is just trivial...

Don't take offense to this, but it's just the way you put it that cheapens when somebody else tries to warn or advise someone else to avoid a dealership or product etc... I just feel it's out of place to make this big of a B&M over a typographical error on the ad, that's like telling everyone to boycott a supermarket because the pacifiers weren't on sale as 2 for 1 as advertised...

*Edit: Actually this is the thread I'm talking about: http://bmwboard.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10933 and what I mean't by typographical error was that chances are the Honda site doesn't make BMW hoods so they probably have an error listing and therefore cannot process your order it's REAL SIMPLE, perhaps I was unclear. As for your B&M about credit information, it's also REAL SIMPLE you call your credit card company tell them what happened and don't authorize any charges from that company. Perhaps they can place you on fraud alert or whatnot, again it's no big deal. And last but not least Bavarian Princess is what I nicknamed my 330i and NEW upfront is because it's new and I intend on using NEW as a link to pictures when I post them. That sig doesn't mean I'm female, you can look in my profile it has my name in there it's also REAL SIMPLE... and here not another useless post.

I know it's a ricer site. I searched for "E36 carbon fiber hood" and that was one of the sites that came up. The build quality looked good and they had the best price. Are you saying I should have only shopped German companies and had one freighted from there? I guess I'm just not as snobbish as I should be.

What typographical error are you talking about? I've been calling them for the last three days and all I get is a busy signal. And they still haven't returned my emails. How would you like a company that you don't trust and you can't contact having your credit info and a $450 authorization? I appreciate what you're saying, but I don't think it applies. If you advertise and SELL a product, you should at least be able to explain why said product hasn't shipped after almost FOUR MONTHS. I can't cancel the order if there's nobody there to talk to.

I think you had the typographical error, you should be on the E46 board.

One more thing. On the five boards I've posted on, I've had 335 views of this subject so far. Most of those people probably won't buy a carbon fiber hood anyway, but at least if they do they might remember not to buy one from streetstyler. That was my only purpose, not to be a pompous a**hole with nothing useful to say. What typo are you talking about?
