Turning off the 'laser' sound of my Alarm

Whenever I unlock or lock my doors with my remote, it makes that 'laser' sound... I guess it's supposed to sound sophisticated or whatnot, but it gets on my nerves and I really don't like having everyone within 100 feet getting startled whenever I want to unlock my car.
Does anyone know how to turn that sound off?

Alarm! Alarm!

If you have the "bmw" alarm sys. w. the two button remote, Stand near car and hold both buttons down at the same time for about three sec. the int.warning light will flash a few times confirming you are in silent mode. to deactivate repeat process.
