The E36 and E46 do suffer from oil starvation, mostly on long and fast sweeper turns. The quick and easy trick is to run 1/2 to 1 qt high, which is what I do. From what I have heard, it isn't a problem, other than you might burn some of it off.

The only other solution is to do some lower engine mods. Several companies sell baffled oil pans and special oil pump pickups to address the problem. It will cost $300 - $600, plus installation labor or your DIY time, depending on the exact setup.

Oh, yeah, there is one other solution - upgrade to an M3, LOL. They have a baffled oil pan.

Excellent. I just wanted a second opinion. I knew you'd help me out Kirby.

I wonder what year they started the baffled oil pan in the M3, my buddies 95 M3 does the same thing and another guy i think it was a 99 M3 had the same problem. He told us to run an extra quart.

Do you drain your oil and add most of it back in to get rid of the excess after the event?
